Surajkund, located at a distance of 8 km from Delhi, is the host of the traditional craft fair. Visitors of Surajkund can still find the ruins of the amphitheatre sun pool, history of which is dated back to the 10th century. The name of Surajkund is most probably derived from this ancient amphitheatre. Previously the surrounding places were under the control of the Tomar clan and the chieftain, Raja Suraj Pal, of the sun worshippers had built the sun pool in the adjoining area. It is a stage where artists from all over the country gather at one premise and definitely it brings the age old Indian cultures into the limelight from many years. The fair is organized by the Haryana Tourism Department to encourage Indian artists.
